An idea was born…by accident. Pamela Thomas, designer and creator of EllaBelle Creations, knew that she had discovered something special when everyone from her seven-year-old neighbor to the teenager at her local coffee house to her sixty-something mother wanted one of her belts.

After earning an MBA and working many years as a market research consultant, Pamela decided to stay at home with her three young children. She was always looking for an opportunity to put her solid business skills to use. In December 2005, a chance encounter with a ribbon belt provided that opportunity.
 
“I loved that these belts could be as funky, preppy, or bohemian as the wearer,” Pamela recalls.  “I thought that they would make really cool holiday gifts for my family and friends. So I dusted off my sewing machine and created custom-made presents. The compliments I received (and the orders that followed) gave me the confidence that I was on the right track.” The requests flooded in after Pamela’s first trunk show…and EllaBelle Creations was launched, named for her daughter.  

Given her background in market research, Pamela knows how important it is to listen to what the buyer wants.  In fact, many of her best ideas are inspired by customers.  People love that there are so many different styles to choose from based on their mood, the season, or their outfit. “I have known customers who have actually gone out and purchased an outfit to match their belt,” she says. “I was also surprised at how many people buy our belts as gifts – they love being able to pick out something special for their teacher, babysitter or best girlfriend.”
